Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.27% in a weak market

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.26 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 0.75 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.35 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.27 per cent at 22234.3 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 44.65 points at 22525.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 184.48 points at 74154.96.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, GMR Infra, SAIL and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kirloskar Ind, Asahi Songwon, Dolat Invst, Kirloskar Oil and Kirloskar Pneumatic hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Atal Realtech, Radaan Media, Gujarat Lease, MT Educare and Times Guaranty hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
