Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.1% in a weak market

TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.84 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.49 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.12 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.1 per cent at 25422.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 24.95 points at 24298.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 96.81 points at 79899.79.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, Vodafone Idea, Rail Vikas Nigam and IFCI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Alphageo , Shreyans Ind, Rail Vikas Nigam, GE Power India and Kaya hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while CMI Ltd, Brightcom Group, Praxis Home Retail, MEP Infrastructure and GIR Natureview hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
