(Reuters) - The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq opened higher on Thursday, recovering from a selloff in the previous session, as gains in Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA ) shares after its optimistic earnings forecast lifted indexes.
Shares of Tesla were up 14%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 103.65 points, or 0.24%, at the open to 42,411.30. The S&P 500 rose 20.4 points, or 0.35%, at the open to 5,817.8, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 107.5 points, or 0.59%, to 18,384.155 at the opening bell.
