Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 2.00%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining , Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index fell 2.00%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were GDR Globaltrans Inves ORD SHS (MCX:GLTRDR ), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 519.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot PJSC (MCX:AFLT ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 48.52 and GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX:AGRODR ) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 1,083.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC (MCX:GMKN ), which fell 5.56% or 6.10 points to trade at 104.30 at the close. OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL ) declined 5.41% or 1.92 points to end at 33.60 and Gazprom PJSC (MCX:GAZP ) was down 5.08% or 6.17 points to 115.31.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 189 to 54 and 9 ended unchanged.

Shares in GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX:AGRODR ) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 1,083.80.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 1.43% to 47.36.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.24% or 6.29 to $2,674.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.79% or 1.25 to hit $68.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.23 to trade at $72.39 a barrel.

USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 105.00, while EUR/RUB rose 0.01% to 110.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 106.34.
