PMS Funds Tracker: Multi-asset schemes made HNIs richer in March

Pace Financial's Tresor Flexi fund was the top-performing PMS scheme last month with a 7.4% return, followed by Tresor Prive's 4.73% gain and 4.7% upside in Tresor Sustainer, shows data pulled from PMSBazaar.

NAFA's Clean Tech Portfolio, which is focused on midcaps, stood out by delivering an impressive return of 4.6%. Other top gainers in the list are Samvitti Capital's Long Term Growth Fund, Torus Oro's All-Weather Portfolio and Ambit's Caliber.

Among star fund managers, Shyam Sekhar's ithought Sphere multi-asset fund was among the top gainer with 2.73% gain. Saurabh Mukherjea-owned Marcellus Kings of Capital, which is focused on banks and other financials, managed to give 2% return. Mukherjea's Rs 5,000-crore Consistent Compounder fund grew 1.88% but his smallcap-focused Little Champs fund saw wealth erosion of 7%. His Rising Giants fund also lost around 3% of its value.

Samir Arora-run Helios Capital's India Rising PMS fund delivered a return of 1.63%. Devina Mehra's First Global-run Indian Multi Asset Fund and India Super 50 funds recorded losses of about 3% each.

March was a tough month for investors in the smallcap segment as Sebi's warning about froth building in the broader market and stress tests by mutual funds tightened fresh inflows. The attention shifted back to bluechips with Nifty recording a monthly return of 1.57% and Nifty Smallcap250 falling 4.2% in March.

Last month, smallcap mutual funds recorded their first outflow (of of Rs 94.17 crore) in the last 30 months. In the midcap category too, net investments dipped to Rs 1,018 crore down from Rs 1,808 crore in February.

PMS schemes are meant for HNIs to park surplus capital as it comes with a minimum ticket size of Rs 50 lakh.
