Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.82%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.82%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA ), which rose 14.71% or 36.67 points to trade at 286.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q ) added 3.64% or 6.15 points to end at 174.99 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB ) was up 3.61% or 6.40 points to 183.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA ), which fell 5.07% or 0.82 points to trade at 15.35 at the close. GCC SAB de CV (BMV:GCC ) declined 3.18% or 6.05 points to end at 184.04 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA ) was down 2.93% or 0.78 points to 25.81.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 132 to 112 and 13 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.19% or 5.16 to $2,653.56 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.65% or 1.13 to hit $67.17 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 1.05 to trade at $71.04 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.03% to 20.19, while EUR/MXN fell 0.24% to 21.33.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 105.95.
