Italy stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 down 1.84%

Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology , Telecoms and Financials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 1.84%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem SpA (BIT:SPMI ), which rose 3.44% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Davide Campari Milano SpA (BIT:CPRI ) added 1.06% or 0.06 points to end at 6.09 and Hera (BIT:HRA ) was down 0.18% or 0.01 points to 3.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Telecom Italia (BIT:TLIT ), which fell 7.86% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.25 at the close. STMicroelectronics (BIT:STMMI ) declined 6.27% or 1.58 points to end at 23.54 and Interpump Group (BIT:ITPG ) was down 4.79% or 2.14 points to 42.54.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 436 to 92 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in Saipem SpA (BIT:SPMI ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.44% or 0.09 to 2.64.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.73% or 1.22 to $69.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.87% or 0.64 to hit $72.75 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 1.71% or 45.36 to trade at $2,607.94 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.49% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 108.13.
