Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology , Auto and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.31%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL ), which rose 1.64% or 39.30 points to trade at 2,437.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF ) added 0.82% or 24.70 points to end at 3,043.70 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI ) was up 0.57% or 4.75 points to 838.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL ), which fell 5.10% or 76.80 points to trade at 1,428.60 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM ) declined 3.53% or 106.10 points to end at 2,898.70 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY ) was down 3.53% or 67.85 points to 1,856.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI ) which rose 0.80% to 840.90, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC ) which was down 0.20% to settle at 475.75 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO ) which lost 0.31% to close at 781.90.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM ) which was down 3.36% to 2,903.35 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY ) which lost 3.28% to settle at 1,861.05 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT ) which was down 2.45% to 1,843.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1342 to 1114 and 166 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2165 rose and 1607 declined, while 102 ended unchanged.
The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.64% to 15.16.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 5.79 to $2,670.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.60% or 0.41 to hit $69.13 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.45 to trade at $72.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 84.50, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 89.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 106.29.
