Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power , Capital Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.35%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL ), which rose 11.50% or 247.30 points to trade at 2,397.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE ) added 6.30% or 71.10 points to end at 1,199.95 and Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:BAJE ) was up 3.17% or 9.45 points to 307.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH ), which fell 1.33% or 93.85 points to trade at 6,982.70 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN ) declined 1.08% or 35.85 points to end at 3,291.65 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR ) was down 1.04% or 6.10 points to 582.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC ) which rose 2.31% to 370.00, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK ) which was up 1.38% to settle at 1,810.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN ) which gained 1.31% to close at 6,705.95.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR ) which was down 0.85% to 584.05 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN ) which lost 0.77% to settle at 3,290.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI ) which was down 0.57% to 834.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1698 to 772 and 152 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2445 rose and 1315 declined, while 107 ended unchanged.
Shares in HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK ) rose to all time highs; up 1.38% or 24.60 to 1,810.00.
The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.21% to 14.51.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.02% or 26.91 to $2,673.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.41% or 0.28 to hit $69.05 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.25 to trade at $72.57 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 84.43, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 88.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 106.43.
