Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate , Banking and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL ), which rose 2.56% or 16.25 points to trade at 650.25 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK ) added 1.85% or 33.80 points to end at 1,860.10 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH ) was up 1.48% or 105.80 points to 7,232.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI ), which fell 2.25% or 36.45 points to trade at 1,584.10 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL ) declined 2.15% or 33.05 points to end at 1,500.85 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA ) was down 1.78% or 162.65 points to 8,999.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK ) which rose 1.60% to 1,856.00, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS ) which was up 1.41% to settle at 1,630.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC ) which gained 1.36% to close at 372.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI ) which was down 2.17% to 1,584.50 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO ) which lost 1.63% to settle at 788.10 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD ) which was down 1.36% to 325.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1460 to 1011 and 167 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2290 rose and 1514 declined, while 96 ended unchanged.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.85% to 14.49.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.15% or 3.89 to $2,664.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.63% or 0.44 to hit $70.38 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.54 to trade at $74.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 84.74, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 88.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 106.49.
