India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.01%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate , Metals and IT sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.01% to hit a new all time low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF ), which rose 2.56% or 79.60 points to trade at 3,186.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS ) added 1.61% or 26.35 points to end at 1,663.40 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR ) was up 1.43% or 4.35 points to 308.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI ), which fell 1.49% or 23.90 points to trade at 1,578.65 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE ) declined 1.43% or 18.10 points to end at 1,248.75 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL ) was down 1.32% or 8.50 points to 633.30.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS ) which rose 1.65% to 1,665.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT ) which was up 1.31% to settle at 1,934.55 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR ) which gained 1.15% to close at 307.65.

The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI ) which was down 1.30% to 1,581.00 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML ) which lost 0.90% to settle at 1,761.50 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK ) which was down 0.73% to 1,155.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1310 to 1173 and 143 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1947 rose and 1840 declined, while 128 ended unchanged.

Shares in Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE ) fell to all time lows; falling 1.43% or 18.10 to 1,248.75. Shares in Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR ) rose to all time lows; gaining 1.43% or 4.35 to 308.10. Shares in HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL ) fell to all time lows; losing 1.32% or 8.50 to 633.30. Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS ) rose to all time lows; rising 1.65% or 26.95 to 1,665.00. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI ) fell to all time lows; falling 1.30% or 20.90 to 1,581.00. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT ) rose to all time lows; up 1.31% or 25.10 to 1,934.55. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML ) fell to all time lows; losing 0.90% or 16.05 to 1,761.50. Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR ) rose to all time lows; up 1.15% or 3.50 to 307.65. Shares in Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK ) fell to all time lows; down 0.73% or 8.45 to 1,155.00.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.36% to 13.77 a new all time low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 6.31 to $2,692.11 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.54% or 0.37 to hit $68.00 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.34 to trade at $71.80 a barrel.

USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 84.84, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 89.36.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 105.98.
