Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.92% in an upbeat market

Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.77 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.75 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(down 0.16 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.92 per cent at 18940.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 178.2 points at 22301.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 594.92 points at 73591.23.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of IDFC First Bank, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC and South Indian Bnk were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Dynacons Sys, Onelife Capital, Century Texttiles, Chalet Hotels and JTEKT India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while TIL Ltd, Godha Cabcon & Insul, Shyam Telecom, Popular Vehicles and Marshall Machines hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
