Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.66%
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.66 per cent up at 18586.2.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 6.71 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 3.83 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.53 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 3.38 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 1.86 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 2.71 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.37 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 1.42 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(down 1.06 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.85 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.66 per cent up at 18586.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 34.41 points at 22402.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 114.49 points at 73852.94.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, SAIL, YES Bank, NMDC Steel and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Raj Oil Mills, Steel City Securitie, Chennai Petro, Yuken India and Aegis Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Atal Realtech, GIR Natureview, BDR Buildcon, IndInfravit Trust and Ahimsa Industries L hit their fresh 52-week lows.
