Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.44% in a weak market

Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 2.31 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.44 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.31 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.99 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.44 per cent at 18691.95 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 198.41 points at 21856.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 695.26 points at 71969.21.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Piramal Pharma, Tata Motors and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of D-Link(India), Kapston Facilities, ABB India, Piramal Pharma and Dolphin Offshore hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Medico Remedies, Morarjee Text, Rajvir Ind, Shanti Overseas(Ind and SRM Contractors hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
