Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.24% in an upbeat market

Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 0.57 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 0.54 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(down 0.37 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.24 per cent at 19786.0 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 59.25 points at 23382.2, while the BSE Sensex was up 220.16 points at 76826.73.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, YES Bank, Hind Const Co and IRB Infra Dev. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of DRC Systems India, Selan Expl Tech, Mawana Sugars, Bharat Rasayan and Honda Siel Power hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Borosil Scientific, Supreme Infra, GIR Natureview, IndInfravit Trust and 3rd Rock MultiMedia hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
