Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.92% in a weak market

Infosys Ltd.(down 1.79 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.58 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.42 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.24 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.06 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.92 per cent at 37334.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 149.5 points at 21997.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 421.02 points at 72676.26.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Indian Railway Fin and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of R K Swamy, Somi Conveyor, Gopal Snacks, Diamond Power and Tarapur Trans hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Davangere Sugar, Nandani Creation, Mask Investments, The Western India and Lakshmi Precis hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
