Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.34% in an upbeat market

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.27 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.98 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.07 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.34 per cent at 33091.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 151.5 points at 22109.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 496.04 points at 72900.21.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, IDFC First Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Smartlink Holdings, Dolphin Offshore, Tara Chand Logistic, V-Guard and Vijaya Diagnostic hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lakshmi Precis, Keerti Knowledge, S & S Power Switch, Popular Vehicles and Sinclairs Hotel hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
