Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.88% in a weak market

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.76 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.88 per cent at 35099.45 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 9.9 points at 22443.4, while the BSE Sensex was down 32.28 points at 73871.63.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Edelweiss Financial and NALCO were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GE Power India, Nila Spaces L, Indian Metals, DJ Mediaprint & Logi and Shriram Pistons hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gopal Snacks, Industrial Invst, 3rd Rock MultiMedia, Regency Ceramic and Mask Investments hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
