Stock market update: Nifty IT index  advances  0.14%

The Nifty IT index closed 0.14 per cent up at 37332.6.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.31 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 0.59 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.41 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.38 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.27 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 1.92 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(down 1.87 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.19 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.14 per cent up at 37332.6.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 8.5 points at 24315.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 27.43 points at 79897.34.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Renewable, NHPC and IRFC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Mallcom(India), JHS Svendgaard Retai, HPL Electric Power, KCP Sugar and SCI hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, JP Associates, Praxis Home Retail, Sarthak Metals and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
