Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.04% in a weak market

Coforge Ltd.(down 1.02 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.99 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.08 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.04 per cent at 37295.65 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 70.86 points at 24253.6, while the BSE Sensex was down 277.23 points at 79647.54.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, IRFC and SCI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Mallcom(India), JHS Svendgaard Retai, SCI, HPL Electric Power and SCI Land and Assets hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Praxis Home Retail, MEP Infrastructure, Sarthak Metals and GIR Natureview hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
