Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.64%
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.64 per cent down at 46981.3.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.Shares of ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.66 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.54 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 0.15 per cent) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.06 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 5.68 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 5.3 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 3.94 per cent), IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 2.52 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 2.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.64 per cent down at 46981.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 338.0 points at 21997.7, while the BSE Sensex stood down 906.07 points at 72761.89.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, Infibeam Avenues and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Somi Conveyor, Modern Threads(India)Ltd., Diamond Power, Tarapur Trans and Intellect Design hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Marshall Machines, Shreeoswal Seeds, Commercial Syn Bags, Nandani Creation and R K Swamy hit their fresh 52-week lows.
