Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.56% in an upbeat market

Punjab National Bank(down 5.38 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 4.61 per cent), State Bank of India(down 3.13 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(down 2.54 per cent) and Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 0.75 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was up 0.56 per cent at 49198.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 23.5 points at 22499.35, while the BSE Sensex was up 293.09 points at 74171.24.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, PNB and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ganges Securities, The Anup Engg, Gokul Agro Resources, Rainbow Childrens and Rane(Madras)hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MPS Infotecnics, Signpost India, Zee Ent., Ibull Housing Fin(PP)and SRM Contractors hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
