Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.4%

On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 1.08 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 0.97 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.92 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 0.5 per cent) and Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 0.27 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.4 per cent up at 46785.95.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 118.96 points at 22123.65, while the BSE Sensex stood up 526.01 points at 72996.31.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, Suzlon Energy and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nuvama Wealth Manage, Arvind SmartSpaces, Onelife Capital, Jyoti CNC Automation and Rico Auto hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while NACL Industries, Shreeoswal Seeds, Lexus Granito(India), Commercial Syn Bags and Popular Vehicles hit their fresh 52-week lows.
