Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 2.35% in a weak market
The Nifty Auto index was trading 2.35 per cent down at 25217.8.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 11:20AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.26 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 6.67 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 2.94 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 2.58 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 2.09 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.93 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 2.35 per cent at 25217.8 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 219.41 points at 24213.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 768.59 points at 79583.05.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Rail Vikas Nigam, IRFC and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of NDR Auto Components, IZMO, RPP Infra Proj, Rolex Rings and CAMS hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Vraj Iron & Steel, MEP Infrastructure, Praxis Home Retail and IRIS Clothings hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
