Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 2.02%
The Nifty Auto index closed 2.02 per cent down at 25302.8.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.Shares of Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.43 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.09 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 6.62 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 1.69 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.44 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.38 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 2.02 per cent down at 25302.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 108.75 points at 24324.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 426.87 points at 79924.77.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Rail Vikas Nigam, IRFC and IRB Infra Dev. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of NDR Auto Components, Shoppers Stop, GE Power India, IZMO and Talbros Auto hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sah Polymers, SecUR Credentials, Praxis Home Retail, MEP Infrastructure and Filatex Fashions hit their fresh 52-week lows.
