Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.73% in a weak market
The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.73 per cent down at 20159.4.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:39AM(IST)on Friday in a weak market.Tube Investments of India Ltd.(up 0.68 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.92 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 2.33 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 2.26 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.21 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 2.09 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Auto index was down 1.73 per cent at 20159.4 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 181.75 points at 21964.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 524.22 points at 72573.06.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Indian Railway Fin and Infibeam Avenues were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of R K Swamy, Somi Conveyor, Gopal Snacks, Diamond Power and Tarapur Trans hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SITI Networks, Nandani Creation, Davangere Sugar, Mask Investments and The Western India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
