Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.21%
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.21 per cent down at 23471.0.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Thursday.Shares of Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 2.71 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MRF Ltd.(down 2.1 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.09 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.8 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 1.75 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(down 1.66 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.21 per cent down at 23471.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 216.05 points at 22488.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 617.3 points at 73885.6.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 ended in the green, while 44 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, IRB Infra Dev., Motherson Sumi, Tata Steel and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Exicom Tele-Systems, Emami, Sakuma Exports, Heritage Foods and Techno Electric hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Revathi Equipment, Borosil, SEL Manufacturing Co, Atul and Shreeoswal Seeds hit their fresh 52-week lows.
