Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.87% in a weak market

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 2.47 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 2.05 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 2.03 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.63 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.63 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.87 per cent at 22561.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 56.65 points at 22143.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 160.35 points at 72826.68.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, YES Bank, Canara Bank and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Roto Pumps, Kirloskar Bros., Kirloskar Elec, ABB Power and Welspun Ent hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Brightcom Group, N K Industries, Eurotex Ind, Butterfly Gandhi and IRB InvIT Fund hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
