Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.84%

On the other hand, Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 3.69 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.17 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.77 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.66 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.79 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.84 per cent down at 21520.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 152.06 points at 21995.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 454.69 points at 72488.99.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Jio Financial Servic, Tata Steel and Motherson Sumi were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of AAA Technologies, Exicom Tele-Systems, NGL Fine Chem, Just Dial and Bhagiradha Chem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MEP Infrastructure, Ibull Housing Fin(PP), Keerti Knowledge, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
