Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.77% in a weak market

MRF Ltd.(down 2.29 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 1.56 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.4 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.3 per cent) and Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 1.2 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.77 per cent at 20289.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 195.05 points at 21860.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 590.74 points at 72157.68.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Steel, NHPC and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nagreeka Export, D P Abhushan, Cubex Tubings, Hercules Hoists and The Anup Engg hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Creative Eye, Mukka Proteins, BKM Industries, Melstar Info and FutureLifestyleFash hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
