Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.54% in a weak market

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.93 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.75 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.54 per cent at 23685.5 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 121.61 points at 22766.55, while the BSE Sensex was down 416.39 points at 74754.06.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, NHPC, Indian Railway Fin and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Excel Realty N Infra, Paras Defence, Grindwell Norton, JITF Infralogistics and IRIS Business Services hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Monte Carlo Fashion, Revathi Equipment, Osia Hyper Retail, Priti International and Signpost India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
