The Nifty Auto index closed 0.28 per cent down at 22111.55.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.Shares of Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 4.11 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 3.07 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.75 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(up 1.41 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 2.96 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.48 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.7 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.63 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.31 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.28 per cent down at 22111.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 150.4 points at 22419.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 609.28 points at 73730.16.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, GMR Infra, HUDCO and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kirloskar Pneumatic, Kirloskar Ind, HUDCO, Dolat Invst and Asahi Songwon hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Atal Realtech, Sheela Foam, Future Supply Chain, Popular Vehicles and Vodafone Idea hit their fresh 52-week lows.
