Stock market update: Nifty Auto index  falls  0.18%

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.18 per cent down at 25257.25.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.53 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.51 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 1.46 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(up 0.63 per cent) and Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.43 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.25 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.0 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.89 per cent) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.8 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.18 per cent down at 25257.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 8.5 points at 24315.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 27.43 points at 79897.34.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Renewable, NHPC and IRFC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Mallcom(India), JHS Svendgaard Retai, HPL Electric Power, KCP Sugar and SCI hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, JP Associates, Praxis Home Retail, Sarthak Metals and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
