Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 2.55% in an upbeat market

Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.19 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.07 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 2.55 per cent at 24016.2 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 642.8 points at 23173.5, while the BSE Sensex was up 2064.4 points at 76025.71.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 49 were trading in the green, while 1 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, NHPC, YES Bank, IRB Infra Dev. and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Adani Power, Adani Ports SEZ, Power Finance Corp., REC and Power Grid hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, Sintex Plastics Tech, Compuage Infocom, Revathi Equipment and Morarjee Text hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
