Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.44%
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.44 per cent up at 20700.25.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Thursday.Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(up 6.44 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(up 4.38 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 3.29 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 2.81 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(up 2.6 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.44 per cent up at 20700.25.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 172.86 points at 22011.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 539.5 points at 72641.19.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 ended in the green, while 7 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel, SAIL and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of The Hi-Tech Gears, eMudhra, Rico Auto, Reliance Infra and ABB Power hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Medico Remedies, Vaxtex Cotfab, M K Proteins, SCI Land and Assets and Compuage Infocom hit their fresh 52-week lows.
