Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.28% in an upbeat market

Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 2.06 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.56 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.51 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.39 per cent) and MRF Ltd.(down 0.39 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.28 per cent at 25200.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 153.56 points at 24277.4, while the BSE Sensex was up 499.05 points at 79940.5.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 14 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indian Renewable, YES Bank, IDFC First Bank and HDFC Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kingfa Science Tech, Country Club, D-Link(India), Diamines Chem and G M Breweries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Supply Chain, Akme Fintrade(India, GIR Natureview, IndInfravit Trust and 3rd Rock MultiMedia hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
