Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.70%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals , Transportation & Logistics and Software sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.70%, while the MDAX index gained 1.65%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.53%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN ), which rose 5.75% or 1.13 points to trade at 20.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn ) added 4.43% or 1.21 points to end at 28.51 and Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn ) was up 4.39% or 2.38 points to 56.58 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG ), which fell 1.03% or 1.60 points to trade at 154.42 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn ) declined 0.60% or 0.18 points to end at 30.02 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG ) was down 0.47% or 0.08 points to 17.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G ) which rose 7.89% to 17.37, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1 ) which was up 7.22% to settle at 2.66 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG ) which gained 5.73% to close at 12.83.

The worst performers were SCHOTT Pharma AG & Co KgaA (ETR:1SXP ) which was down 3.28% to 23.58 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn ) which lost 1.57% to settle at 41.45 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG ) which was down 1.28% to 89.00 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG ) which rose 5.14% to 12.48, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG ) which was up 4.47% to settle at 98.15 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG ) which gained 3.95% to close at 23.70.

The worst performers were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG ) which was down 1.35% to 46.86 in late trade, Formycon AG (ETR:FYB ) which lost 1.19% to settle at 58.00 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn ) which was down 0.60% to 30.02 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 455 to 152 and 37 ended unchanged.

Shares in AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G ) rose to 3-years highs; rising 7.89% or 1.27 to 17.37. Shares in SCHOTT Pharma AG & Co KgaA (ETR:1SXP ) fell to all time lows; falling 3.28% or 0.80 to 23.58.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.77% to 15.69.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.23% or 32.94 to $2,715.24 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.41% or 1.84 to hit $78.21 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 1.58 to trade at $81.50 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 109.00.
