Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.51%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology , Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.51% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.63%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.24%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG ), which rose 3.21% or 3.85 points to trade at 123.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn ) added 2.78% or 0.45 points to end at 16.73 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn ) was up 2.17% or 0.68 points to 31.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn ), which fell 2.53% or 1.35 points to trade at 52.00 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p ) declined 2.33% or 5.10 points to end at 214.00 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G ) was down 2.25% or 2.35 points to 102.25.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG ) which rose 7.12% to 126.30, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn ) which was up 6.07% to settle at 34.58 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG ) which gained 4.01% to close at 11.81.

The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER ) which was down 5.51% to 32.74 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG ) which lost 3.39% to settle at 11.41 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p ) which was down 2.60% to 41.90 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n ) which rose 8.19% to 16.90, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn ) which was up 2.17% to settle at 31.80 and Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG ) which gained 1.70% to close at 59.80.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G ) which was down 5.96% to 12.63 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG ) which lost 3.86% to settle at 8.59 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG ) which was down 3.39% to 11.41 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 330 to 306 and 38 ended unchanged.

Shares in Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG ) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.21% or 3.85 to 123.85. Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn ) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.78% or 0.45 to 16.73. Shares in Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 7.12% or 8.40 to 126.30.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.59% to 14.86.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.45% or 12.06 to $2,670.56 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.00% or 2.04 to hit $70.14 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.65% or 1.90 to trade at $73.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.22.
