In recent activity, nearly 3.9 million new investor accounts were opened with the Central Depository Services Ltd (CDSL), and an additional 0.4 million accounts were registered with the National Securities Depository (NSDL). By comparison, May witnessed a total of 4 million new accounts, while April saw 2.6 million new accounts.
Mumbai: Nearly 4.3 million were opened in June, the highest in four months, as the soared to record highs and several promoters and sold shares almost every alternate day, demonstrating the enthusiasm among Indian .The total number of demat accounts in India surged past 160 million for the first time in June.
The rallied 3% in June, while the and Smallcap indices gained 4% and 8%, respectively. Seven companies raised ₹3,629 crores from public issues.
In the past, the number of new demat accounts has crossed the 4 million monthly mark only three times. In February, around 4.3 million demat accounts were opened, while December 2023 and January 2024 saw 4.2 million and 4.6 million new accounts, respectively.
