Wall St opens higher as prospects of September rate cut grow

(Reuters) - Wall Street's main indexes opened higher on Thursday, as investors were more hopeful the Federal Reserve would kick off its interest rate cut cycle next month, while awaiting policymakers' commentary at Jackson Hole this week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 41.7 points, or 0.10%, at the open to 40,932.23. The S&P 500 rose 16.9 points, or 0.30%, at the open to 5,637.77​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 74.7 points, or 0.42%, to 17,993.72 at the opening bell.
